Johnny Cake

Miraculously, I have all the ingredients although I have a back up plan if I should fall short. The butter reminds me of you, not quite room temperature, yet is capable of being soft…once, but still too cold and hard. It will be difficult however, I will manage. The oil is hot I will try not to get burn this time. I eyeball the flour, salt and sugar in spite of you. I never measured up to her, albeit both lacked the calibration by your standards. The doughballs fluffy pillows until I knead them. I resist jabs as you did me. I must use caution as to match the consistency. The perfect shape that you so desperately crave and desire in the palms of my hand. A recipe for disaster.

Walking a fine line between genius and insanity. My words are raw, sometimes visceral, and vulgar.  I write to settle my thoughts.  I have triggers that extract emotional immaturity, deep- rooted fears, anger, insecurity, vulnerability, yet I heal with every stroke of the pen.  I might be that monster.  I sometimes scare myself.  Please keep this in mind as you read.  I do not wish to provoke you, though stories need to be told. *not all posts are in real time
