I wander aimlessly in the night. I browse the busy streets seeking a deeper connection. It is rather ridiculous for it is only her who ignites a fire within the bowels of my soul. The flame once a spark still burns as if forever eternal. It is unlikely to find her again, to rediscover her. She is close, yet so far. I’ve lost her in this lifetime. There is no other woman I would prefer to behold. I fell at first glance. She stumbled, but learned to walk again ever so graciously. I didn’t appreciate her beauty and brokenness. There’s no sound, no music, I’d rather hear than her laugh. I no longer sense her being in proximity. She is long gone. I lay alone while she lies between. She is captured and fascinated. I bare witness to the unknown, yet it is felt in my core. Cold and withdrawn memories buried deep within her. If we cross paths again, they will strike me down. I am the enemy. I am the detestation.
It is troubling to me that I can feel so strongly about her. I don’t understand the full depth. Perhaps it is because I never really knew her.
