There were days so tender and loving. We took the world by storm. I only thought of you and me and what could be. Then it happened… without hesitation, no stutter in your speech, you told me it doesn’t feel right. You said, it was you, and not me then you said it was me and I’m not the one. I was devastated, but I respect your honesty. You told the truth most days. I like to believe you did most days. I walked on eggshells trying to explain myself. I edited my thoughts before I spoke. I second-guessed my behavior before every action, always fear of your judgement, your rejection and criticism. My self-esteem and confidence plummeted in your presence. I wasn’t good enough, albeit I was more than you can handle. I made myself. I create my success and own my failures. To this day you have not apologized, not once taken ownership of your disastrous contribution. This is what sets us apart.
