Being single is ok, but sometimes I miss:
trading childhood stories ’til the sun comes up
holding hands while our bare feet sift the sand
seeing her smile on the pillow next to me in the morning
slow dancing in the livingroom to our own rhythm
kissing that spot where her pulse beats like thunder
watching the clouds drift by with her head on my shoulder
watching her dress to go out on the town with me
choosing passion on the kitchen counter as dinner gets cold
sitting opposite so we can paint each other’s toes
the way the firelight throws shadows across her bare skin
rubbing SPF 45 on the places she can’t reach
surprising her with a romantic evening – just because
kissing each part of her that I undress
feeling her fingers flow thru my hair
sex in odd places because we can’t wait to touch
warming away her shivers as she crawls under the covers
playing card games without keeping score
using my fingertips to explore her body by Braille
feeding each other bites from a single plate
whispering my desires in her ear just before I do each one
wrestling in the grass until we’re breathless with laughter
cutting vegetables for her kitchen creation
reading poetry until she drifts off to slumber
sharing the scent of a freshly picked wildflower with her
washing her body tenderly with her favorite luxury soap
leaving a love note in her lunchbox
licking ice cream from her cone
muting the movie and making up our own script
forgetting the rest of the world when she walks in the room
tracing the backs of her legs with my tongue
blushing when I remember what we did last night
making out at the drive-in movie
walking thru the wooded path to reach that special sunlit picnic spot
hugging her until her bad day goes away
feeling the shower sting from her claw marks on my back
discussing the latest news and eye rolling the tabloid headlines
borrowing her shirt so I can have her scent all day
attending her office parties
playing dot-to-dot with her freckles
staying up late to watch a meteor shower
planning our next adventurous vacation
making love in the afternoon
singing harmony in rush hour traffic
sharing her version of life as she presents each piece to me….
Some of these things I’ve done, some I want to, and some I could certainly repeat….
I’m looking for a “girl next door” type that knows how to have fun and can also be responsible enough to pay the bills.
